Happy Anniversary!

After 6 weeks of Lent and a very long Holy Week, followed by a couple days with friends, Al and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary on Wednesday with an emphasis on the vow of 'in sickness' and in health. I spent most of the day on the couch with a box of Kleenex, but managed to make it to the computer to look for an e-card to send to Al before he got home from church. He returned and announced that he too was feeling 'blah'. Eden entertained herself on the floor until she decided to start sneezing, get a runny nose & tug on her ear.

So, after all was said and done, and no cards or gifts or "happy anniversary" words had been passed, we sat on the couch together in the dark and talked until we were ready to fall asleep....then Eden woke up. I spent the next 3 hours rocking a sick baby while Al slept alone.

Thursday night was no better. Eden is officially experiencing her first cold/ear infection, so Al and I are also experiencing our first bout of being parents with a screaming child. (She wasn't this mad or in pain when she had RSV). I went to town (30 miles round trip) to get some Pedicare nightime (I was hoping sleep would surround her), but it just made her more agitated and she screeched in pain while I sat on the couch with her fighting tears of new mommy-hood frustration. All I kept thinking was, 'who can I call? Mom's in Mexico, Meegan's a medical moron, and Marie really likes her sleep, considering she has two tots of her own.' So, after 3 hours, I added tylenol to her coctail and she fell fast asleep until morning.

BUT ALAS...For the sake of celebrating something, Al bought me a BEAUTIFUL boquet of flowers and instead we celebrated the first time we met, 6 years ago today.

To all those beautiful days and nights to come......

Happy Easter!

HE IS RISEN! He is risen indeed, Alleluia!

Happy Easter to all of you out there whom we miss and love dearly, and anybody else who might tap in.

Eden's first Easter started out bright and early, as I had to be at church for bells at 0615. Walking out the door, I saw that the Easter Bunny had arrived and left surprises. Eden was very interested, but I was very late....

I got smart last week and set up the pack and play at church in a dark corner so that with all Holy Week's late and early services, I could have a place to leave her sleep. (It only took me 7 months to figure something like that out!) When she fell asleep in it this morning, the tulle from her dress was over her head and she looked like a mini bride.

Services were nice, there were about 120 people, most dolled up for the festival. The processional into the church was really beautiful, the kids did great carrying the lilys and candles and the bell choir was right on in rhythym. One lit candle exploded out of the candelabra as it was about to be set down. Luckily, nobody started on fire. Breakfast by the LYF followed, consisting of egg caseroles and sausage. Al called to make some communion runs after chruch and then we both crashed for a bit in the basement. The day is Beautiful and I'm looking forward to a nice drive.

We're headed out of town tonight and tomorrow night to visit friends about 2 hours away, so we're looking forward to a reprive of work, work and more work. They have three boys, so Eden is going to get a taste of 'noise'. Samson is looking forward to a new yard to poop in for a while, as well as having us all to himself for a couple days!~

A really cute baby in a sundress

Eden is 'dancing' to a Baby Einstein CD, and looking cute as ever in a sundress. My mom doens't think she looks much like me, and I have to agree from the few pics I've seen, but I think she is rather photogenic! Anybody think she looks like her daddy??

Tahoma comes to visit

Since spring has sprung, and I had a friend in town, we took the opportunity to go to the ‘lake’ in Harlan the last week of March. It was a windy day by the water, but we all had a great time. It was nice to get out during Lent and relax for a few hours. AJ was with us and he had fun skipping rocks and throwing sticks into the water for Samson. Tahoma and I posed for a ridiculous-looking photo and I realized how much I miss being around my old friends. Memories are a wonderful tool in life.
