Eden and Mommy go to Michigan

Eden had her first airplane ride on June 1st when Sarah and Eden flew from Omaha (4 hour drive from Wilcox) to Detroit and then to Flint. The puddle jumper in Michigan was 2x the size of the plane from Omaha-Detroit! She did very well, despite the fact that both mom and daughter had ear infections. Here, in no particular order, are some photos from our trip!

Much of the family came for a grill out, and 1st cousin-once-removed Amalea snapped a bunch of really great shots. Bright eyed Eden is my favorite shot! If you look close, you can see Lea in the reflection of Eden's eyes.

Mom, Brother John with Eden, Aunt Helene (quiliting methodically) and Jenny all smile for the camera

Papa and Grandma Kenny with all their grandkids. McKenzie, 6 and Zak, 10 are in the back with the lap huggers Eden, Ariya, 2 and Mataya,1.

This day was spent in Caseville and the surrounding lakeshore area. Nothing compares to the fresh blue water of the Great Lakes, but it took me to move away to realize that. This is Lake Huron, right at the tip of the thumb.

Aunt Meegan and Eden carry on a very intense converstion on the courthouse lawn during the Lapeer Art Show. What a wonderful day that was, many talented artists from around the area came to sell and show their work. Bands played all day on the lawn and confections were found at the consession stands.

Eden and cousin Mataya get to know each other, now that they're old enough to be playful. Eden was just figuring out how to creep, but was having trouble, as you can see.

The Lapeer County courthouse, made from Michigan's native white pine in this Greek Revival structure, is the oldest courthouse in Michigan which served it's original purpose....that of a court of law. I performed in a dramatic play there during college in a show called, "The Night of January 16th" . We picked a 'real' jury from the audience and they determined the end of the play, in which the actors had to act out without knowing the ending. It was great fun. Now under restoration, it's a beautiful centerpiece for our town.

Aunt Janet and I took Mataya & Eden to the park in Marlette while the bigger kids went swimming (too cold for the babies....not even 70 degrees!!) Taya seemed perplexed the whole time, while Eden laughed it up!

Cousins Ariya and McKenzie pose for a photo.

Eden and Daddy playing on the floor

Eden is really starting to become playful and laugh a lot. She is full of energy, kicking her legs all the time when she's in the air. I think she'll be a swimmer. She's got this new thing where she tips her head sideways to get a different perspecitve of things, it's cute, but hard to catch on camera. She's also ticklish and (obviously) not shy around the camera. Her and Cousin Ariya will have to fight for the 'ham' award next week when we're in Michigan!

I'm hiding, I'm hiding and no one knows where...

I was getting the stroller and Al was getting the dogs, when we came in to get Eden, she had pushed herself backwards under the couch and was hiding :-)

evening sunshine

A bird has been working on a nest in the hose hangout for a while now, and as you can see, has laid 7 eggs. I have not been able to capture the bird on camera, though, as I'm too noisy and it flies away. I also cannot use that sprinkler, for fear of disturbing the nest. Keep watching for updates on that. Think I can make it into the National Geographic??

Eden came outside in the warm weather after supper and sat in the grass while I watered my gardens. She looked so serene in her jammies and bonnet, I had to snap a few photos. She loves the grass and is quite partial to small twigs, as well.
