It was a beautiful week here in Bridgeport, with the weather in the 70+ range every day. Eden spent much time in the sandbox and playing outside with Samson. Yesterday we had a gentle rain that lasted all day, and today the sun came back out to green up all the grass. Hope the coming week will be as nice!
These are the Happenings of the Strawn Family. A lifelong journey of commitment that began in April 2002 with a small wedding in a small church in a big city. Thanks for joining us, enjoy the walk...

Well, I realize I'm a little late on this week's update. Al's dad and cousin came to town on Saturday, and the house has been a little hectic ever since. We have kept busy, to say the least. The weather has been a balmy 70-80 degrees every day, so the room in the garage is being built and lots of outdoor projects have been completed.
Here are a few pics of the week in review!
Sunday afternoon, we hiked up to Chimney Rock, but didn't get all the way around...it's a long walk!
The rest of the time has been spent building a room in the garage for Al's hobbies. Eden had to be 'in' on the helping, and she was front and center the whole time, holding daddy's pencil, handing him screws and just plain having fun.

Another week older
It was a beautiful week here in Bridgeport, we spent many hours outside enjoying the fresh air.
Al put together Eden's Christmas toy from the Dieners. She's just tall enough to get her feet on the foot holds and her hands on the handlebars, so it was perfect timing. Word to the wise, once you START pushing her, she doesn't want to STOP...
Ae and a trustee got the long shelf built in the garage, so we got to put all the totes up out of the way. He also put our other big shelf together in the garage and that was promptly filled, as well. We're still 'discussing' where I will be able to put my gardening stuff, and he is hoping to build a room for his hobbying. Slowly, it's all coming together.
Yesterday, we all went outside and while Al pushed
Eden on her toy, I snuck in some gardening time. I moved some iris to the back and pulled apart several grape hysinth and moved them into a border shape. I probably only spent 15 mintues total, but it was nice to do it without Eden's help. We all then took a nice long walk.
Eden's newest trick
is climbing up the back of the couch and onto the window sill to look at and shout to the dog. She'll pound on the window and yell "doggie" as he lays in the dirt by the fence. I'm sure it's not safe, but it's rather cute.

A New Week
A new week has dawned here at the Strawn Household.
I finally put a message on the answering machine for those of you who have been talking to a computer voice for the last 6 weeks :-) It's short and sweet, because it seems to me that pretty much everybody in America knows that, if you get an answering machine, it's because the people of the house are 'unable to come to the phone right now' and to 'please leave a message after the beep and we'll get back to you as soon as possible'. Therefore, I have left that part out.
Eden had her 18 month well baby check this past week. With all her clothes and shoes on, she weighs just 20#, and so we have made the 'big switch' from the rear facing car seat position, to the forward facing position permanately. If I don't let her run around outdoors, she may actually stay her new hefty weight.
Below, I have captured a picture of Eden's funniest quirk yet. If she doesn't have her slippers on, her feet get crumbs and 'stuff' on them and she can't stand it. As soon as she steps on something funny, she sits down and tries to find it on the bottom of her foot. She'll sit there for 5 minutes taking each little bit of dust off her feet. Definately my child.
She is also becoming quite the helper in the bathtub. Al usually gives her a bath after supper and you can hear her laughing and spashing at least a block away. (My mom can hear her all the way in Michigan...at least when we're on the phone). She is quite meticulous about washing her hands and her hair and all parts inbetween.
