Tell the Good News

February already. I need to check my rear view mirrors and find out what I've done all year.

The beginning of the week was spent getting ready to take a road trip, meetings and appointments, grocery shopping and preschool and doubling up Lars' therapy on Tuesday. I sorted through the ambulance inventory while I was at the hospital visiting a friend, and had to do my one hour glucose test for the pregnancy. I, of course, got the rookie needle sticker, but it wasn't too bad, even after the 3rd poke.

The weekend was the Tell the Good News About Jesus Convocation in Casper, Wyoming. We packed up and left Thursday when Eden was out of preschool and arrived at the hotel around 4p. After dropping the bags and settling in a bit, we hit the shopping scene, stopping off at the mall play ground to re-fuel for round two, which took us well into the evening.

We came back to the hotel and suited up for the mini indoor water park & pool, swimming & splashing until the pizza arrived. Lars nearly drowned in a matter of about 15 seconds, but Eden politely interrupted us with an, "Excuse me, Mommy, Lars is under the water..." I had just been lecturing my better half on keeping Lars w/in arm's reach since toddler's heads are so top heavy and they can't get their feet under them like bigger kids can. We had just ended that conversation when we began discussing who was going to go up and wait for the pizza and if we could bring it back to the pool or not. Unbeknown-st to me, Lars wandered off the step and got sucked down from the current of the tiny slide. Since we've been working hard on having Eden not interrupt unless it's an emergency, she was apparently weighing the odds in her mind. Later, she asked, "was that an emergency?" Um, yes.

The convocation was well done and I always enjoy getting away from town for a drive and change of pace. At the evening service on Friday, Lars very clearly prayed with us and had everybody at the next table in stitches.

It went something like this: mumble mumble mumble HEAVEN
mumble something NAME.....something something COME. (pause) DONE. HEAVEN. mumble mumble DAY.. BREAD.....something mumble....PASSES......US.....TEM-TA-SHON....EBIL...mumble, something, something, EVER. AMEN! (big smile).

We arrived back home on Saturday night late and crawled into bed where everybody slept soundly.

Sunday was spent doing absolutely nothing. After church, everybody came home, ate a small lunch and fell asleep until I woke them all up around 4:00p. We loaded into the car and took dinner to Douthits' house, where 3 out of 4 kids played wildly with a bouncy ball on the steps and the adults chatted and contemplated dessert while child number 4 threw up repeatedly upstairs. You know, a typical winter day.

Last night, Lars decided to get a cold around midnight. We've been up since 0300, rocking and soothing and trying to convince him that cough and cold medicine is yummy.

If you figure out a trick for the medicine let me know. Sethie (12 next week!) still won't take medicine. We even practiced "swallowing" pills with tic tacs!
