Meegan and I got crazy (as those of us 40 or nearing 40 will do) on Thursday night and drove to Detroit after hours.
We met Brian (Meegan's bloke) on his lunch hour and took a late night drive to the top of Greektown casino for a skyline view of the city. Everything looks beautiful and harmless from up there. We walked to Pegasus where Brian treated us to a midnight snack, despite the fact that there were plenty of other people's leftovers in the parking garage.
After photos from the top of the world, we spiraled down the parking garage alley at a high rate of speed, drove down to the water, passed all the major sport complexes and downtown sights, then trolled along Lake St Claire shores through Grosse Point, slowly, taking in the blackness of the night and shimmering of the water. The Ambassador Bridge was all lit up blue with Canada just beyond.
I got home to find my bed inhabited and the floor the only other option for the remaining hour before sunrise. oh well, I can nap later today. Who knew I'd spend the next several hours occupying the emergency room with Elia?
Guess that's what I get for pulling an all nighter at my age... but it was really fun and I'd do it all over again, too!
